Re: “Questioning Hillary Clinton’s use of private e-mail,” July 11 letters to the editor.

Letter-writer Anne Culver’s repugnant characterization of Donald Trump in her comparison of Trump and Hillary Clinton was shameful.

Trump will adhere to our Constitution and enforce laws. His expertise in business is paramount in tackling our national debt, balancing our budget, downsizing big government and wasteful spending, and making health care and quality education less expensive. He will build our military to capacity and concentrate gravely on the terrorist threats. He will build a border wall that will have a “beautiful door for legal immigrants.” Clinton is for open borders and the opposite of some of the above.

Trump must be given a chance. Nothing could be worse than what we have, and it could be a whole lot better. God help us if he is not elected.

Vera R. Boyd, Denver

Donald Trump must not leave the upcoming Republican convention with our party’s nomination. While I understand the anger with gridlock and the establishment, I reject the premise that Trump is either an outsider or will generate momentum that will break gridlock and lead our country in a positive direction. Hillary Clinton may believe that not getting caught in a lie is the same as telling the truth or that not facing indictment is the same as exoneration, but unfortunately I am afraid that the country can better survive four years of her in the White House than Trump. I am not alone in this calculus.

If Trump is our nominee, moderates will either sit this election out or hold their collective noses and vote for Clinton. The Republican Party will lose badly and Bill Clinton will become the first Dude. A moderate Republican, if one is chosen at next week’s convention, can win.
