Delegates at the Republican National Convention on Monday react as some delegates call for a roll call vote on the adoption of the rules.

Re: July 18 news story.

The disgusting and embarrassing display made by our Republican delegates in Cleveland Monday help to underscore the blatant hypocrisy of the Colorado Republican establishment. In Cleveland the Colorado delegation wanted to be “heard” and have the rules changed to reflect their disapproval of Donald Trump. Like a bunch of children having a temper tantrum, they walked out when they did not get what they wanted.

Of course, during the primary season and specifically our Colorado caucus, the elites running the Colorado Republican Party decided it was in the best interest of the party to not allow those attending their caucuses (many for the first time) to be heard. No votes were taken to see which presidential candidate had the stronger showing here in the state.

It is this sort of blatant manipulation of a desired outcome by the establishment brokers that has so many Americans — Republicans in particular — so upset. Let the chips fall where they may. That is how our democratic republic is supposed to work. A government by and for the people, not for the elites running the show.

I was embarrassed by the Republican delegates representing Colorado in Cleveland at the Republican National Convention — walking out and making a big deal about it. If they are there just to make a statement, they should have stayed home and allowed someone else represent us and be a part of the process. I was particularly upset with delegate Kendal Unruh, who has been making noise for some time. The delegation is not representative of Colorado voters in the first place. There is a significant portion of Coloradans who support of Donald Trump, and the Colorado Republicans stacked the deck against him and us in the first place. We the people of Colorado are not being represented by these delegates. Especially when they walk out and do not participate in the process they were sent there for.
