A 3-year-old boy fell from a second story window Tuesday morning at a Thornton apartment.

Thornton Police Department spokesman Matt Barnes said the boy’s mom called police about 9:20 a.m. to report the fall at 747 W. 96th Ave.

When officers arrived, they found the child conscious and breathing after falling about 15 feet onto a rock bed, Barnes said. The boy was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Barnes said the investigation revealed the boy climbed onto a piece of furniture, then on top of an air-conditioning unit and then pushed a window screen and fell out.

The boy’s mom was home getting ready for work.

“We’re ruling this as an accident,” Barnes said. “There are no pending charges.”
