RL Cole wants you to know: time is a flat circle.
The Denver based trio kick started the UMS on a “True Detective”-facing note, running through the bayou with soul-tearing blues and three-chord rock. The crowd was on the same page, filling in the precious little space at the Hi-Dive with stomped boots and swaying hips.
The band’s wardrobes weren’t on the same page, though: Cole was in standard South Broadway fare, while stand-up bassist “Blood Pack Max” and drummer “Beef Cake Blake” were dressed in office attire and a skin tight leopard shirt respectively. Despite the sartorial dissonance, the band was keyed in, and proved the first take away of the 2016 UMS.
