Xcel Energy has restored power to 2,890 homes in Broomfield and Westminster after a driver lost control and hit a transformer on 120th Avenue, between Ash and Lamar streets.

The crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, and power was restored in a little more than an hour, said Michelle Aguayo, an Xcel spokeswoman.

The woman driving the vehicle was taken to a hospital, said Sara Farris, North Metro Fire Rescue spokeswoman.

“The car just veered off and hit this transformer,” Farris said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
