Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected Thursday afternoon in the Denver metro area.

The temperature will rise to near 90 degrees before it rains sporadically in afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain in the evening.

A cool down starts on Friday, when the high will be around 81 degrees, according to the NWS.

Saturday is about the same, with a high of 81 and a 20 percent chance of rain in the afternoon.

It will start to warm up under sunny skies on Sunday, when the high temperature will be about 86 degrees, the NWS says.

Temperatures will be in the high 80s Monday through Wednesday.
