U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo unleashed some incendiary comments about the Swedish national team following at the Rio Olympics.

“We played a bunch of cowards,” Solo told reporters following the match. “The best team did not win today.”

Solo criticized the Swedes style of play, which was to sit back and defend, and try to strike on the counter attack.

Pia Sundhage, the former U.S. coach who now coaches Sweden, told Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl she was fine with the Swedes’ game plan.
