Michael Wilson, 35, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant on suspicion of abducting his 2-year-old daughter.
A Tennessee man wanted on suspicion of abducting his daughter was stopped Wednesday night in Mesa County, authorities say.
Michael Wilson, 35, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant after being found in a vehicle on Interstate 70 near the exit for the town of Clifton. Found with him was his 2-year-old daughter, who appeared unharmed, according to police.
Authorities in Grand Junction were tipped off — from Bradley County, Tenn. — to Wilson being in their jurisdiction by the FBI during the day, officials said.
“The child was turned over to the Mesa County Department of Human Services until she can be reunited with her custodial guardian,” Grand Junction police said. “After being interviewed by detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department, Wilson was remanded to the custody of the Mesa County jail, where he will remain pending extradition.”
Palisade police and Mesa County sheriff’s deputies also worked on the case.
