A north wind brought cooler weather to the Denver metro area Friday and temperatures will remain lower than normal through the weekend, forecasters say.
The high Friday is expected to be 75 degrees, which is 15 degrees lower than Thursday’s high of 90 degrees, said Mike Baker, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder. The normal high for this time of year in Denver is 87 degrees.
The low Friday night will be a nippy 46 degrees, 12 degrees below the normal of 58 degrees for this time of year, Baker said.
The possibility of rain begins earlier than normal for the summer — in the morning — and will increase in the afternoon and evening. Throughout the day, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected rather than steady rain.
“We’re not looking for any heavy rain with theses storms,” Baker said.
There’s a 20 percent chance of rain Friday morning along the Front Range. The probability of rain increases to 40 percent in the afternoon and 50 percent in the evening, according to the NWS.
It will be breezy in the afternoon Friday.
The chance for rain decreases over the weekend, with only a 10 percent chance of afternoon rain on Saturday and no rain forecast for Sunday, according to the NWS.
The high on Saturday will be about 74 degrees. The temperature climbs to about 83 on Sunday.
The first part of next week will be warmer, with a high of 88 on Monday and 86 on Tuesday.
There is a chance for rain Monday night every afternoon between Tuesday and Thursday. In the middle of the week, the high temperatures will be 80 on Wednesday and 78 on Thursday.
