Regarding the possibility of Donald Trump losing in a “historical landslide,” your editorial suggests that “every recent national poll suggests he could.â€Â Your broad statement lacks factual documentation and historical perspective. The latest Reuters poll shows Hillary Clinton ahead by five points, and the Los Angeles Times poll shows a tie — hardly a landslide by any stretch of the commonly accepted definition! Remember the five-point lead of Thomas Dewey over Harry S. Truman just before … Truman was elected. August 1988 polls showed Michael Dukakis with a seven-point lead over George H.W. Bush, and we know who won that one.
