A few more days of afternoon rain and lower-than-normal temperatures are expected before the Denver metro area returns to sunshine and warmer weather.

The high on Thursday is expected to be about 75 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The chance for rain will build through the late afternoon and evening. There is a 30 percent chance of rain after 5 p.m. and a 40 percent chance at night, the NWS says.

The temperature will dip to about 56 degrees Thursday night.

On Friday, there is a 40 percent chance for rain and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon. The high will be around 76 degrees.

A wind shift Friday night from east to southwest will signal a gradual increase in temperatures. It will continue to get warmer through the weekend and the first part of next week, according to the NWS.

The high temperatures will climb of 80 again on Saturday and increase a few degrees each day to about 88 degrees by Wednesday.

The chance for rain decreases significantly on Saturday and it should be mostly sunny Sunday through Wednesday, NWS meteorologists calculate.
