Re:  Aug. 30 editorial.

The Denver Post notes the awkward timing of a leaked draft from the governor’s office, then hits the climate nail on the head, citing the need to move from a fossil-fuel economy to one based on renewable energy. The carbon dilemma must be addressed, if not by the nation, then state by state. Thus far, many of our congressional legislators, paralyzed in heat waves one day, standing chest deep in flood waters the next, remain unable even to acknowledge the grim reality of climate change — a recipe for federal inaction indeed. So, back to the states, with California and the New England states taking the lead. In Canada, the provinces moved first, now the national government engages. Here in Colorado, Gov. John Hickenlooper, acting for whatever motivations we may ascribe, deserves our backing for taking the next modest step, as we encourage still stronger measures.
