Jimmy Buffet — Red Rocks Ampitheatre, Oct. 13
The sun may have set on summer, but that won’t stop Jimmy Buffet from turning Red Rocks Amphitheatre into his own personal tiki lounge next week. Despite his permanent vacation vibe, the songwriter has turned out to be something of a workaholic. His musical “Escape to Margaritaville,” which he’s been working on for the better part of the last decade, is set to premiere in spring 2017. After more than 40 years on the road, Buffet is still ferreting out ways to mix up his live shows. Along with all the Buffet classics — “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “A Pirate Looks at 40,” etc. — the I Don’t Know tour features a bantering coconut voiced by Jeff Bridges. Catch Buffet, his band and on Oct. 13. Tickets: sold out.
Trev Rich — Roxy, Oct. 8
Denver may still be a ways from breaking out onto the national hip-hop scene, but local M.C. Trev Rich is doing his part to change that. The rapper has been honing his craft in venues around the state for years, making a name for himself thanks to an earnest point of view, clever wordplay and lithe flow. All that work has paid off: In September, Rich inked a deal with Birdman’s highly respected Cash Money Records imprint, a roster that puts him in league with high-profile artists like Nikki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Drake. On Oct. 8, Rich will perform for the first time since signing the deal. Catch him in a double headliner with AD at Five Point’s Roxy Theatre. Tickets are $25-$50 via .
