A 37-year-old woman is in custody in connection with a case in which a  Monday in Fremont County. The man is expected to survive.

Kristina Jean Knowles is suspected as an accessory to attempted second-degree murder and false reporting in the case, the county sheriff’s office said. Authorities said Saturday she was in custody after an earlier alert was issued for her.

John Wesley McCune Jr., 35, on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, felony menacing and being a previous offender in possession of a weapon.

McCune was arrested after a vehicle chase and foot pursuit into Pueblo County that followed the shooting about 1:30 p.m. on Monday in Williamsburg, just south of Florence. 

Authorities say the victim, who was critically wounded, is expected to survive and is no longer in critical condition. His name has not been released.
