Denver sets a record high temperature for  Oct. 15 on Saturday, but the weather is expected to start to cool off on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

In mid-afternoon, the temperature at Denver International Airport was 85 degrees, breaking by two degrees a record of 83 set in 2014.

“We’re going to get real close to hitting a record high and we might exceed it or tie it,” Kyle Fredin, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Boulder, said earlier Saturday.

Fredin said temperatures are expected to start cooling off on Tuesday. Snow flurries actually could hit mountainous areas on Wednesday and Thursday, he said.
