A freeze warning for a few hours Thursday morning will soon be forgotten when southerly breezes bring warmer temperatures to the Denver metro area through the rest of the week.

After the weather dipped into the chilly 20s overnight, sunshine will prevail for the remainder of the day, raising temperatures to a high of around 62, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The NWS issued a “freeze warning” until 8 a.m. Thursday. The low was around 27 degrees at Denver International Airport, but the wind chill factor made it feel like it was only 16 degrees, the NWS says.

A soft south breeze between 6 to 8 mph will persist through the day Thursday.

On Friday, the high will break back above 70 degrees and by Saturday it will be about 78 degrees, according to the NWS.

The first part of next will also be warm, with temperatures in the mid-70s Sunday and Monday.

It will remain warm Tuesday and Wednesday, although daily high temperatures will dip again to the low 70s and high 60s, the NWS says.
