The Chicago Cubs host the Detroit Tigers at Wrigley Field in Game 5 of the 1945 World Series -- the last time the Cubs were in the Series.Born in Indiana in 1920, my father was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. In all of his years, the Cubs had but one World Series experience, one Dad was not able to attend. My father spent all of 1945 in France, Germany, the Philippines and Japan. My father died in 2005. For his life-long loyalty and for his worldwide service to our country, I am rooting for the Chicago Cubs. I am rooting for Dad’s team. Cubbies, please win one for Carl Edwin Broshears.
