U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., is one of several Republicans who have suggested they would be fine with eight Supreme Court justices for four more years rather than allow Hillary Clinton to fill the current vacancy.

Republican legislators blocked President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland. Now they’re saying they will block any Supreme Court justice that Hillary Clinton nominates if she wins.  For the past eight years the Republicans have been the party of “no,” blocking initiatives to rebuild infrastructure, limit pollution, improve our transportation system, etc.  Anything Obama proposes, Republicans oppose. The Republicans shut down of our government in 2013, taking $24 billion out of the economy. They’re ready to do it again when the short-term funding bill expires in December.  If Clinton wins, the Republicans’ tactics will remain the same — block funding bills, block judicial nominations, block initiatives supported by a Democratic president, shut down the government. Colorado Republicans Scott Tipton, Mike Coffman and Ken Buck participated wholeheartedly in these “no compromise” Republican tactics. They need to be voted out of office.

It is appalling that certain elected officials are trying to pre-emptively block any potential Supreme Court nominees if Hillary Clinton becomes president.  For a party that spends so much time talking about how important it is to uphold the laws of the land and how the other side is crooked and not law-abiding, they once again fail to see their own hypocrisy.  This publicly stated position, one that they even seem to take pride in, is the very embodiment of obstruction of justice.  These officials therefore have three choices: do their job, resign or go to jail.
