Re: Dec. 7 Kathleen Parker column.
Kathleen Parker’s column imploring the Electoral College to be “unfaithful” should be required reading for all electors. As Parker stated, regarding the purpose of the Electoral College, “most important among the founders’ criteria for a president was that he be qualified. Thus, the Electoral College was created as a braking system that would, if necessary, save the country from an individual such as, frankly, [Donald] Trump.”
Yes, many Republican electors are partisan, but are there not at least 37 who see how horribly unfit this man is to occupy the Oval Office? Do they really want the president of the United States to be praised by the American Nazi Party and the KKK? Can they not admit he is dangerous to America, as well as the global community? Will their consciences challenge them to vote honorably to serve their country, not the Republican Party? Let’s hope so.
History must be made on Dec. 19, 2016. I repeat Parker’s entreaty: “Please, be brave.”
