Donald Cerrone’s hankering for a fight in Denver.

Fresh off his win over Matt Brown at UFC 206 last Saturday, the Colorado native has been vocal about having his next match take place on the Fight Night card at Pepsi Center on Jan. 28.

Although it would be just seven weeks between fights, Cerrone (32-7) is no stranger to quick turnarounds. In January 2015, he had two fights in 16 days — beating both Myles Jury and Benson Henderson in lightweight action. He’s been one of the sport’s most prolific fighters, totaling 23 fights since making his UFC debut in 2011.

Cerrone is undefeated in four fights at the welterweight division since making his debut at 170 pounds in February, and 12 of his last 13 overall. He’s climbed up to No. 5 in the UFC rankings in the division. And it looks like this is where he’s going to stay.

“I’ve seen (Anthony) Pettis in the sauna and I asked my guys, ‘Is that what I look like at 155?’ And they said, ‘Worse,’ ” he said in an interview with UFC after his win Saturday.

As for who he could fight remains to be seen. In the post-fight press conference Saturday, Cerrone said he would want No. 3 Demian Maia because “he’s on his way to the title fight.”

But he added: “If I had to hurry up and choose someone for Denver, it’s whoever they want to give me. That doesn’t matter to me at all.”
