There is a 10 percent chance of snow in the Denver area on Thursday, and with any luck there will be snow on the ground by Christmas, forecasters say.

The best chance for snow on Thursday will be after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The temperature is expected to climb to a high of about 36 degrees.

The thermometer will dip to around 22 degrees Thursday night, the NWS predicts.

It will warm up under sunny skies the next few days, with highs of around 47 degrees on Friday and 51 on Christmas Eve.

There is a 10 percent chance of snow in the Denver metro area Christmas morning.

The sun will likely melt the snow quickly as the temperature rises to a high of about 41 degrees on December 25.

It will be mostly sunny with temperatures ranging from 37 to 45 degrees Monday through Wednesday, NWS meteorologists predict.
