Continuing a recent stretch of windy days, gusts could reach 30 mph in the Denver metro area on Wednesday, according to forecasters.
It will be mostly sunny with a high of around 48 degrees, meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Boulder predict. A breeze of between 9 to 14 mph early in the day will shift from a southwest to a northwest direction. The northerly winds will be stronger, up to 30 mph.
The low temperature Wednesday night will be around 18 degrees, the NWS says.
Sunshine is forecast for Thursday with a high of about 42 degrees. On Friday, it again will be unusually warm with a high of around 55 degrees.
A wind change Friday night will draw air from the northwest. For those headed downtown Saturday for the fireworks (9 p.m. and midnight), the forecast is partly sunny with a high of about 38 degrees on the last day of 2016 and a low of about 22 degrees Saturday night.
On Sunday, the high will climb to about 44 degrees.
The next chance for snow Denver is Monday, according to the NWS forecasters. The temperature will climb just above freezing at around 34 degrees. Monday night the low will be a chilly 11 degrees.
