Man charged with murder in Denver Christmas Day stabbing

A man has been charged with murder in Denver in connection to a Christmas Day stabbing.

Marshall Westcott, 23, faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Westcott, in the early morning hours of Dec. 25, in the 1400 block of Pearl Street, allegedly stabbed Kayla Burke and Joseph O’Neill. Burke died and O’Neiill was seriously injured.

After stabbing Westcott cut his own neck and throat, according to the DA’s office.

Westcott, who was treated at Denver Health Medical Center for his neck lacerations, remains in custody.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
