The Denver metro area may be freezing but remain patient as a respite should come Monday. In the meantime, be glad you’re not getting snowed on in the mountains.

The metro area should be mostly sunny Saturday with highs around 29-37 degrees and lows around 12-18 degrees at night, National Weather Service spokeswoman Natalie Gusack said.

Sunday should be partly cloudy and slightly warmer with highs ranging from 46-54 degrees and lows from 29-39 degrees, Gusack said.

And then comes Monday, which should roll in with highs near 60 degrees and lows near 33 degrees. Soak it up, Denver — temperatures should drop again to the 40s and 50s for Tuesday through Thursday, according to NWS.

People heading to the mountains, whether by car or on the first Winter Park Express train Saturday, should prepare for snow. There’s a chance of snow Saturday evening, turning to likely after midnight. Gusack said accumulation will likely be 2 inches overnight.

The snow should continue through Sunday and Monday. Tuesday is the first day with lower than a 50 percent chance of snow. Although Gusack did warn that conditions may change.

Highs in the mountains Saturday should be between 18-28 degrees with lows at night around 10-16 degrees, she said. Sunday should have highs between 26-36 degrees with lows around 24-32 degrees.
