It’s the middle of winter, but it feels a bit like spring in metro Denver.
The patter of rain on sidewalks and windshields surprised early risers Friday morning, as the weather kept to the National Weather Service forecast suggesting a mix of rain and snow will fall through the day with temperatures climbing to about 43 degrees.
A soft southwest breeze of around 6 mph could be felt.
In the past 24 hours, mountain ski resorts received anywhere from 1 to 7 inches of snow, according to the Colorado Snow Report.
Purgatory and Monarch Mountain received 7 and 6 inches respectively. Crested Butte Mountain Resort and Wolf Creek Ski Area both received 4 inches of new snow
It will partly be sunny on Saturday and sunny on Sunday with temperatures reaching the lower 40s on both days, according to the NWS in Boulder.
There’s a slight chance for rain after 11 a.m. on Monday. The high is expected to be around 47 degrees.
It could begin to snow Monday night. There will be a slight chance for snow on Tuesday, when the high temperature will drop to around 34 degrees, according to the NWS.
The highs will remain in the low-to-mid 30s Wednesday and Thursday.
