Colorado Springs police have arrested an 18-year-old man and a juvenile boy after they allegedly randomly attacked a homeless man found sleeping next to a woman outside a business early Thursday morning.

Raphael Woodridge, 18, was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault and attempt to influence a public servant. The juvenile was booked into the Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Center.

The homeless man was taken to a hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to a Colorado Springs police report from the Sand Creek Division. The woman wasn’t injured.

The attack happened at 12:35 a.m. at a closed business in the 1300 block of North Academy Boulevard, the police report says. The names of the two homeless people have not been released.

The alleged attackers began hitting and kicking the homeless man in the head and upper body several times. The two homeless people ran away.

The man entered a business on the 1300 block of North Academy Boulevard seeking help.

Police searched the area and spotted two people matching the description of the suspects. The victim later identified Woodridge and the juvenile as the pair who attacked him, the report says. The homeless victims said they did not know the suspects.

The juvenile at first gave a false name and birth date for himself.
