“The political climate.” A man called Golden Police on Jan. 31 to report suspicious activity at the Islamic Center of Golden, 1940 Ford St. He said he stopped by the center around noon to introduce himself and offer a welcome because of “the political climate in the world.” He knocked on the door but nobody answered, so he left a note and returned to his car, where he found an anti-Mulsim booklet on the windshield. Police found the booklet on other cars in the parking lot. The center’s Imam said he was in prayer around 12:10 p.m., which is when police suspect the booklets were dropped off. There were no suspects.

Bike trashed with “tones of infidelity.” Golden Police reported to Westblade Park, 16780 Mount Vernon Road, on a report of a downed motorcycle Jan. 29. There, they found a motorbike that was severely damaged and its parts strewn about. Parts of the bike were spray-painted with obscene messages that had “a tone of infidelity.” The bike was reported stolen out of Denver; police called the owner and had the bike towed.

Speed edit. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol Feb. 3 in the area of Pleasant Park Road and Legault Lane, Conifer, noticed black spray paint on two speed limit signs. On a 30-mph limit sign, someone tried to change the 3 to an 8 and the 0 was filled in. On a 35-mph sign, the bottom part of the 3 was blacked out. The deputy reported the damage to the road and bridge department.

No camping at Walmart. On Feb. 2, Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies went to Walmart, 952 Swede Gulch Road, Evergreen, where a store security guard said a customer was upset that a small black camper was being towed from the parking lot in enforcement of a rule against overnight camping. The customer said he believed someone lived in the camper and offered to move it to avoid it being towed. The customer agreed not to interfere further.
