Light snow flurries are expected for one more day in the Denver area before the storm moves east and a gradual warming trend begins, forecasters say.

where snowfall throughout the day created tough driving conditions in the foothills and mountains, so far traffic in the Denver metro area appears to be running smoothly.

“We haven’t seen too many crashes. The roads are in pretty good shape. There have been no road closures,” said Stacia Sellers,  spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Crews treated the roads with chemicals in advance of the storm and stayed out through Thursday night keeping highways and streets clear, Sellers said. They focused on the interstates, bridges, overpasses and ramps, she said.

There is a 20 percent chance of snow through Friday, according to the NWS. The snow will taper off in the evening and it will get very cold at night.

In the mountains, between 1 and 3 inches of new snow is expected Friday.

The high temperature Friday will be around 26, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The low Friday night will be around 10 degrees, but the wind chill factor will make it feel like minus 3 degrees.

A slight warm-up starts Saturday with a high of 35. Temperatures will continue to climb to 39 on Sunday and 43 on Monday. The average high temperature for this time of year usually falls in the upper 40s. February has been unusually warm and four high temperature records have been set so far this month.

A slight chance for snow returns to the forecast Tuesday after 11 a.m., the weather service predicts. The high will be about 39 degrees. Expect highs of 44 on Wednesday and 50 by Thursday.
