Interview with Dustin Darnell, Tim Cruser and Lori Cruser — owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We started as professional dog trainers and moved to opening pet-care facilities.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:Come Sit Stay Pet Resorts is a unique pet-care facility because it is owned and operated by professional dog trainers. The owners are experts at understanding dogs and dog behavior, thus having greater insight in how to keep pets happy and healthy. Our facilities are built from the ground up with an emphasis on outdoor playtime, allowing guests to enjoy our unmatched outdoor exercise areas, as well as heated swimming pools. We have a very high standard for customer service and overall husbandry of our pet guests.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
:It is a joy to be surrounded by animals and care for other people’s pets as if they were our own.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
:Our goal is to welcome and accommodate all of our pet guests. It has been a challenge to always have the space to house each pet in this growing industry. We opened a second location to help meet the demand for our services.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
:Although we do get the pleasure of playtime and snuggles with the pets, there is a surprising amount of cleaning involved.
