Jefferson County authorities are investigating a “possible drowning” Wednesday morning at Wellington Lake after a couple’s canoe capsized, leaving a man missing.

A woman who was also in the canoe has hypothermia and has been airlifted to a hospital, the county sheriff’s office said.

Mark Techmeyer, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said she was able to make it to shore.

The man, in his 60s, is still missing.

“A dive team is en route,” Techmeyer said.

The incident happened at about 10 a.m.

Further information on the situation was not immediately released.

Wellington Lake is southeast of Bailey, along the Jefferson County-Park County line, in a remote area outside of Pine and Deckers.
