A construction worker died after he was found unresponsive at the site of the  new training facility on Monday evening, the .

Workers found the man “in a confined ceiling area” about 8:20 p.m. at the construction site at 13409 E. Broncos Parkway, sheriff’s officials said in a news release. South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and were able to access the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Turner Construction Company, the firm leading construction at the site, said work at the site has been suspended while the investigation is ongoing.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the worker’s family, loved ones, friends and colleagues during this very difficult time,” Christopher McFadden, senior VP of global communications, wrote in the statement. “This is a heartbreaking loss for … all those impacted by this tragedy.”

Broncos officials said they were “heartbroken” over his death in a statement.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office is waiting to identify the man until his next of kin have been notified, spokesperson Jessica Ward-Gifford said in an email to The Denver Post. As of Tuesday, his cause and manner of death had not been determined, she said.

The Broncos were scheduled to relocate their offices and operations from the existing team facility — constructed in 1990 — within a matter of days, as part of a gradual move-in process across the next few weeks before the start of the team’s training camp in late July.

In November 2023, the Walton-Penner ownership group announced plans for the new $175 million, privately funded 205,000-square-foot training facility just south of the existing Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse. After breaking ground in late August 2024, the Broncos held a “topping-out” ceremony on Aug. 1, 2025, to mark the placement of the final foundational beam for the new development.

Players and team employees have been eagerly anticipating the planned development, with General Manager George Paton even putting up a rendering of the new facility in his office in 2025 as a selling point to potential free agents who came through the building.
