Re: March 22 news story.
The Secret Service is requestingan additional $60 million to protect President Donald Trump and his family. I believe we have sunk to a new low with this administration when we would give even a momentap consideration to increasing the Secret Service budget to protect Trump Tower, to fund excess travel to Mar-a-Lago and, worst of all, to fund protection for the Trump family as they trot around the globe making private business deals. The taxpayer is asked to fund this excess and at the same time defund programs that provide money toMeals On Wheels and public broadcasting.
The place for the president and the first lady to live and to conduct business is the White House. As far as the rest of the Trump family, if their business dealings require global travel, that is not a taxpayer problem. This extra security is a business expense, not a government expense, and it should be paid for by the Trump business enterprise.
