How many Republican parties can you discern now? During eight years in opposition, wildly different philosophies could coexist under that banner, since the only test was mutual rejection of President Barack Obama. In power now, we see two, maybe three “Republican” parties battling for the ideas they always cherished but could not hope to implement until now. So, all Republicans swore to repeal the Affordable Care Act, yet these two or three different Republican parties cannot even begin to agree on what should replace it. Guess what will happen with taxes and immigration. This is looking like an uneasy European coalition government, and perhaps should be managed that way.
