Re: March 31 editorial; and April 1 editorial.
The two Denver Post editorials were one day apart, and seemed to come from different planets. Your editorial on an increase in Colorado oil and gas drilling completely ignored the point of your editorial on an increase in carbon emissions.
The latter editorial rightly slammed President Donald Trump for his executive order dismantling the Clean Power Plan and other programs to address climate change. The Post clearly named the danger of increased emission from power plants and other sources. But just one day before, the same editorial board looked at Colorado’s renewed oil and gas industry as “great news for Colorado’s economy.” The first editorial recognized local conflicts about drilling, but never mentioned the impact of that increased production on the global climate.
The oil and gas that comes out of Colorado wells will be burned, and will add to the rapidly increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. When will The Post see the danger in that connection?
