The haze hovering over metro Denver Wednesday is just a byproduct of warm temperatures.

Bernie Meier, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Boulder, said the haze is the product of a temperature inversion. Warm air traps pollutants close to the ground, Meier said.

Several small prescribed burns near Boulder also could be contributing to the murky air, he said.

The haze should dissipate later Wednesday.
