Re: April 12 editorial.

As a daily reader of The Denver Post I have never felt the inclination to write to the editors before today. I was saddened and a little angered that the city of Denver decided it was appropriate to pay $1 million of taxpayers’ money to the family of Jessica Hernandez.

I have felt from the time that I first read the articles about Miss Hernandez and her unfortunate death that she should have been home sleeping and resting up for school instead of smoking pot and driving around in a stolen car at dawn.

I hope that Miss Hernandez’s family will use this money to help other teenagers stay off the streets and get a good education.
