Easter weekend in the Denver metro area is expected to be cloudy and warm with just a slight chance of thunderstorms Sunday.

Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy in the morning, growing to mostly cloudy in the afternoon with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the bottom 30s, National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kalina said.

It should warm up slightly Sunday with highs in the low 70s. The skies are expected to be partly and mostly cloudy throughout the day. There’s a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, Kalina said.

Next week should see highs in the mid-70s, cooling at the end of the week with a likely chance of rain. That precipitation will be needed if the metro area hopes to catch up on its rainfall. The metro area has seen 1.98 inches of rain this year, short of the 2.33 inches it normally sees by now, Kalina said.
