It is hard to understand why Jeanette Vizguerra [a mother of four who has been living in a Denver church to avoid deportation] would be selected by Time magazine as an influential person.
Does it matter that she has committed minor crimes while in this country? Does it matter that after 20 years in the United States, she has to conduct interviews through a translator? Does it matter that there is still a difference between legal and illegal immigration?
There are many good reasons why people from other nations want to immigrate here. Do we really want to accept people who will not learn our language or who refuse to assimilate? It seems that this violates the very principles for immigrating here.
