A warm, sunny day is expected to kick off Mother’s Day weekend in the Denver area with a high Saturday near 84 degrees. Light winds in the morning will offer some relief, according to the .

Weather should remain mostly clear Saturday evening with a low around 52 degrees and wind gusts between 5 mph and 15 mph.

On Mother’s Day, expect another mostly sunny day with a high near 78 degrees and an evening low of 51.

In the mountains, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday  with wind gusts of around 40 mph.

The National Weather Service reminds residents to be careful because all thunderstorms produce lightning. Move indoors or off the mountain ridge if you hear thunder. Showers are expected to dissipate or move out by midnight.
