Colorado Springs police were working door to door northeast of downtown Sunday evening after they found a man shot dead at townhouses, the third apparent homicide in two days.

Dispatched at 2:30 p.m., police went to the scene and found the body, but they have no suspect, police spokesman Lt. Howard Black said.

“We’re in the very beginning stages of this one. We’re asking the community to be vigilant in that area. We don’t have a murder suspect in custody. We have no information,” Black said.

“It does not appear that it was random.”

Two people were found dead early Saturday inside a single-family home, a murder case where police later arrested Elijah Phillips, 19, as a suspect, Black said.

If these three killings are deemed homicides after coroner investigations, it would push the number of murders in Colorado Springs this year to 15.
