A 34-year-old man convicted of first-degree murder in Denver has been sentenced to life in prison.

Jesse L. Oliver, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, after a six-day trial. He was also convicted of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon in the slaying of Bobby Brown, 34, and the wounding of a teen girl.
Investigators say that on Sept. 16, 2015, outside of an apartment building at 13890 Albrook Drive in the Montbello neighborhood. Oliver was arrested after an officer saw him running from the shooting, after according to arrest documents.
Brown died at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, the documents say. The girl, who 17 at the time, was shot in the back and critically wounded.
Oliver is scheduled to be sentenced on May 17. He also will have a criminal trial that day to determine whether he is an habitual criminal.
