A couple in a stolen SUV, cued up at a fast-food hamburger drive-up window in Pueblo, were arrested Friday by sheriff’s deputies.
A loaded handgun was found on the driver and an assortment of suspected drugs in plastic bags were also seized, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
A white Ford Escape, reported stolen, was spotted in a drive-thru line at Carl’s Jr., 102 S. Santa Fe Ave., a news release said.
Deputies boxed in the SUV and arrested the driver, Johnathan T. Schaffer, 39, and a passenger, 31-year-old Christina M. Wojtala.
Schaffer was armed, the release said. Plastic bags containing suspected heroin, cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine were also found.
Schaffer was arrested on suspicion of first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm by a previous offender.
Wojtala was held on suspicion of first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and on a restraining order violation.
Both suspects were booked into the Pueblo County jail.
