Father’s Day is just a few days away and we all know how tough some dads can be to shop for. But if your dad loves to cook or is a foodie — and aren’t they all — here are four locally owned food-related items to get the big guy for his big day June 18.

Cheese Ranch

Contact: 303-278-1293, Features: Cheese Ranch specializes in gourmet American cheeses and also offers some popular cheese from across the pond and will order anything you desire that they don’t have in stock. Head in for European sandwiches, meat trays, cheese boards and accoutrements, just make sure you tell them how good the cheese is.
What the owner says: “We’re a gourmet shop without a gourmet attitude. Itap a warm, inviting environment thatap family friendly. Being a small independent shop gives us the opportunity to carry some unique products that you won’t find in the large grocery stores and the ability to offer menu items that aren’t dictated from a corporate office. In Golden we are a bit off the beaten path but itap only a couple blocks from downtown.”

PS Sweet Shoppe

Features: The Belmar candy shop can make dad remember his younger days, when stops at the candy store for treats and toys was in vogue. Dogs are welcome.
What the owners says: “We listened to what our customers wanted, we brought back the mom-and-pop candy shop of yesteryear. People of all ages can find candy from when they were little and it makes them smile. We also make our own fudge and make sure that every customer who walks in the door gets to try it.”

Baba & Pop’s Handmade Pierogi

Features: Made in a commercial kitchen in Denver, these pierogis can be found at several farmer’s markets around the metro area. Check out the website to see where and when or to order online.
What the owners says: “There are other pierogi companies in Denver, and of course throughout the U.S., but we focus on a wholesome, authentic, handmade pierogi that has a modern flair. While always making our traditional potato and cheese, we make all sorts of unique flavors as well, i.e. chile relleno, pulled pork, buffalo chicken, tomato-basil-mozzarella, and the list goes on.”
