Re: June 8 news story.
Whether our behavior is intentional or not, we have proven ourselves to be less than stellar when it comes to self-policing, especially when it comes to putting the greater good ahead of our own self-interest. The 2008 economic meltdown, and the behavior of Wall Street and big banks are cases in point. The purpose of government is to allow for safe and peaceful co-existence, and to require behavior that we might not choose on our own; behavior that benefits a peaceful civilized society. Chipping away at laws put in place to protect the greater good, in favor of self-interest, is a big step backwards.
