Coroner identifies 19-year-old Fort Collins man killed in officer-involved shooting near CSU

The Larimer County Medical Examiner has identified a as 19-year-old Jeremy Holmes of Fort Collins.

Holmes died from multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.

Colorado State University police responded to a report of a “threatening male” around 8:13 p.m. Saturday. Fort Collins police assisted and officers found the man, who was armed, about 8:30 p.m. near South Whitcomb Street and West Prospect Road.

Police so far have not identified the type of weapon Holmes was carrying. Police fired on Holmes, striking him, and he was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies where he was pronounced dead.

The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.

No officers were injured and there is no indication that the man was a Colorado State University student.

The investigation is ongoing.
