Protesters hold signs showing their disapproval of U.S. Representative Mike Coffman outside of the Education Building South 2 on the CU Anschutz Campus where Coffman held a town hall meeting on April 12, 2017 in Aurora, Colorado. Dozens of people grilled the congressman on his support of getting rid of the Affordable Care Act, pressuring President Trump to show his tax returns and other issues in the new administration.

Re: “” July 13 Megan McArdle column.

It has been said that ignorance is the enemy of democracy, and I would add to that journalists who use the media to foment fear-mongering. How many speakers come to colleges every year and how many of these events turn violent? Taking a few notable instances where students used violence to protest against some pretty despicable conservative speakers, Klansmen and white nationalists and then splashing it across the media as if this is a normal occurrence at college is irresponsible journalism.

Given the fact that conservatives run all three branches of the federal government, control the majority of statehouses and governorships, and own the majority of businesses and corporations, blaming liberals is starting to sound like a lame excuse. I would suggest conservatives start looking within themselves as to why they reject science and education.
