FORT COLLINS — Colorado State’s football team will likely be without junior safety Braylin Scott for the entirety of its upcoming season as he defends a criminal court case related to a May arrest, his attorney said Monday.
Scott will remain suspended from Rams football as a theft allegation naming him as a suspect makes its way through district court, his attorney Erik Fischer said in an interview.
Starting seven of the 11 games he appeared in for the Rams last season, Scott led the team in interceptions with three, and was seventh in tackles with 39.
He was accused in May of stealing then-teammate Hunter Donnelly’s valuable Rolex watches and bracelets from a campus dorm room, according to court documents. Donnelly, a former CSU linebacker who has since been dismissed from the team following his unrelated arrest earlier this year on suspicion of violating a protection order against a young woman, told police he estimated the cost of his two missing Rolexes at $20,000 each, and his four bracelets at $2,000 each.
Scott was arrested by CSU campus police after officers responded to a Craiglist post advertising the jewelry for sale, and then met Scott and saw the jewelry in his possession.
