Mark Redwine, a suspect in the disappearance and death of his 13-year-old son, Dylan, on Tuesday waived his right to extradition hearings in Washington state and will be returned to Colorado.

Redwine was arrested July 22 in Bellingham, Wash.,  after a La Plata County grand jury issued an and child abuse resulting in death.

Redwine, a cross-country trucker, had been named a person of interest in the case nearly two years ago.

“He will be returning to Colorado posthaste,” La Plata County sheriff’s spokeswoman Megan Graham said.

Dylan Redwine disappeared in November 2012 while visiting his father’s home near Durango. In 2013, some of the boy’s remains were discovered about 8 miles from Mark Redwine’s home.

La Plata County officials are working on bringing the Redwine back to southwestern Colorado to face charges in the case.

“The idea is to get him back here as quickly as possible,” Graham said. “We are not wasting anytime.”
