A continuing monsoon cycle of afternoon rain will bring showers and thunderstorms and a few severe storms that could unleash 1-inch hail stones and 60 mph winds along the Front Range Friday, forecasters say.
There is a 20 percent chance of storms after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The high temperature will be about 79 degrees.
“A couple of storms over the eastern plains could become severe with hail up to one inch in diameter and 60 mph wind gusts. Otherwise, brief heavy rain, small hail, and wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible with the storms,” the NWS says.
The low temperature Friday night will be around 57 degrees.
Temperatures will break above the 80-degree barrier Saturday and mostly keep rising through next Thursday, forecasters say.
The high temperature on Saturday is expected to be 82, when afternoon rain and thunderstorms are expected. The chance for rain increases Sunday afternoon. The high will be about 80 degrees.
The chance for afternoon storms diminishes Monday through Thursday, although there will still be slight possibilities of rain each afternoon. Temperatures will steadily rise from around 82 to 87 degrees during that period.
