I applaud the Denver Post Editorial Board for its call on President Donald Trump to sign the Congressional joint resolution. However, let’s be clear about the fact that his signature means nothing.
The president has shown his racism time and again, from his adherence to his father’s discriminatory real estate practices to his praise of the “very fine people” among the white supremacists and neo-Nazis in Charlottesville who chanted “Blood and Soil” and “Jews will not replace us.”
As Ta-Nehisi Coates puts it, “It is often said that Trump has no real ideology, which is not true — his ideology is white supremacy, in all its truculent and sanctimonious power.”
